The cake has been cut, the bouquet tossed & the dress lovingly packed away. Your wedding day may be over but it will never be forgotten & your wedding photos are the one tangible item that remains to remind you of every moment of your precious day. There really are no second chances with wedding photographs & unfortunately there are numerous ways in which they can be ruined by unprofessional amateurs, poorly skilled part-time photographers or well-meaning friends. “Horror stories” are plentiful & surveys consistently show that such couples would rather have spent three times as much as they did rather than relive their awful photography experience.

“It is unwise to pay too much, but it’s worse to pay too little. When you pay too much you loose a little money, that is all. When you pay to little, you sometimes loose everything…. The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little & getting a lot – it can’t be done. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run. And if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.” – John Ruskin, Artist & Philosopher

So how can you make sure you get the pick of the bunch, rather than a bad apple? Simply check your proposed photographer against the following criteria:

1. Are they a member of the AIPP?

Choose a photographer that is a member of the Australian Institute of Professional Photographers (AIPP). This is your guarantee that the photographer is a full-time professional of high standards & ethical conduct that also has proper insurance & back-up equipment etc.

2. Are they passionate about their craft?

Choose a photographer that has an genuine enthusiasm for the work they will do for you.  Make sure they love their job & will be just as passionate about your wedding as you are! (more…)

10 Ways to Trash Your Wedding Dress

Photos By Dee

Trash the Dress Photo Shoots are becoming very popular with past brides and grooms.  It is a great way to have more exciting fun in your wedding attire.  I am going to tell you 10 ways in which you can TRASH THE DRESS…….

1. Take the Splash
Who doesn’t love the beach or water.   This is one of the most popular trash the dress scenarios.  How can it not be romantic. You see these kind of scenes at the movies, getting wet, playing in the sand, and kissing on the beach and we all sigh and wish we could do it.  Well why not take the plunge you took the plunge once and it was great.

2.  Getting muddy
If you are an outdoor person and love the dirt then there are plenty of places to take your Trash the Dress shoot.  First you need to find a nice bit of mud, usually this is best done after it has rained or is raining (these photos can turn out beautiful) then let the fun begin.  It is like going back to being a child but this time you won’t get in trouble for wrecking your clothes.

3.  All Revved Up
If you are passionate about things with wheels why not hire your dream car and have some sexy photos taken with it.   You could even give it a wash and get wet and dirty and still remain sexy and hot.  If the car is not your thing then why not try a bus, truck or skateboard or bmx bike the possibilities are endless.

4.  Down on the Farm
If you love animals then why not show them how much you love them.  Wow where do you start here.  We have horses, cows, pigs, chickens.  Your husband can also put on the cowboy hat and see if he can lasso a winner.   Then after all the fun and excitement why not go and get romantic in the hay bales. Finding the right wedding photographer for you

Precise Moment Photography

Deciding on a wedding photographer can be a very daunting task, first you have to decide how much you can afford to spend, what style of photography you like and what you would like in your package.

You might want to choose someone who is close to where you live or you might decide on a photographer whose work you love regardless of where they are.

There are several very important questions you must ask the photographer when you meet them. Some examples are: how long have they been a wedding photographer for? How long have they been is business? What qualifications do they have? When you look at their display albums ask who took these photos? A lot of wedding photography studios have several photographers working for them, so the photos you see in a display album may not have been taken by the person who ends up taking your wedding photos on the day. Make sure you see the work of the photographer who you have booked for your wedding day. Ask if they can show you some testimonials from previous clients. Most photographers will only be too happy to show these to you.

Another important question is to find out what is included in the package you decide on. Some packages include only taking the photos and receiving just small proofs or a proof album. If you decide you want to get some photographs enlarged, you will have to purchase these separately and this could end up being a very expensive way to get all those wedding photographs you just can’t live without.

Therefore find out the price of everything you might want in your wedding package or other products you might want to purchase separately, so you know how much it will cost and you can budget for it, rather than getting a nasty surprise later when you find out that a particular album or enlargement is going to cost a lot more than you expected. If you can get all the prices in writing.

Another important thing you must do is sign a contract. These usually contain certain things such as the price of the package you have chosen and what is included in that package. It should also include what will occur if (and I hope this never happens to you) that the photos do not turn out, or the photographer is unable to photograph your wedding. Will you get a full/partial refund or will they retake the photos on another day?

Finally, you must be able to feel comfortable and at ease with the person who is going to take your photographs, some photographers offer a free engagement or pre-wedding photography session once you book your wedding with them. This not only helps the photographer to see how comfortable you both are in front of the camera, but also it helps the couple feel more relaxed and get to know the person who will be capturing your most special memories on your wedding day.

Now days wedding videography is becoming just as important as wedding photography. And in many ways the line between photography and videography are becoming blurred with the advent of new technologies. Many studios are offering both services and some work in a style known as Fusion which is a marriage of both mediums.

Wedding videography is a great way for couples to relive their once in a lifetime day. It becomes especially important when the couple are swept up in the whirlwind of events unfolding, it can often seem surreal. With the many details not having time to etch into the mind. Having a professionally made wedding film is the perfect keep sake and can also make the perfect wedding gift.
